We invite you to participate in the virtual Citizens’ Dialogue on “Young people and the Future of Social Europe” with Nicolas Schmit, European Commissioner for Jobs and Social Rights and Ana Mendes Godinho, Portuguese Minister for Labour, Solidarity and Social Security, moderated by Cláudia Semedo.
On 4 May between 15: 00 and 16: 30 CET. The European Commissioner and the Portuguese Minister want to listen to you in an open and frank conversation that is led by you and your questions! Please promote this event on all your networks and among your friends who may be interested. What is the situation of young people today? How are young people dealing with the COVID-19 pandemic? What are your future prospects? What do they expect from national governments and the European Union? Who is better placed than young people to give some of the answers and, above all, ask the right questions? According to a recent Eurobarometer survey, 88 % of Europeans believe that a social Europe is important for them personally. What is your view on this?
Join us for a lively debate on the future of social Europe.
Please register here and share your ideas and questions with us. Access to the virtual room for the dialogue and the possibility to submit questions is limited. The selection will be made in the order of registration. So don't wait too long! The virtual room has a capacity of up to 60 participants, but you can also follow the Dialogue live on Twitter and Facebook, with the possibility to ask questions and comments through these platforms.
The event will be in English and Portuguese and participants can ask their questions in any of these languages.
Just a few days before the Porto Social Summit on 7 May, this Dialogue is also part of the Conference on the Future of Europe, which puts citizens at the heart of EU decision-making. Through this dialogue, you can participate in this unprecedented, open and inclusive exercise of deliberative democracy. The ideas and proposals expressed during the dialogue will be made available on the multilingual digital platform futureu.europa.eu and EU institutions have pledged to follow up on these and take action, whereever possible.
Follow and share the conversation via the hashtags #EUSocialSummit21 #TimeToDeliver, #SocialRights and #HaveYourSay
