A great success was achieved by the Gdańsk University of Technology athletes, who maintained their excellent form from the league season and won the entire tournament without a single defeat, receiving gold medals both in the general classification and among technical universities.
In group matches the female GUT representatives defeated PWSZ Leszno 75:32, JU Kraków 78:32 and ŚU Katowice 84:19, advancing to the next phase of the tournament from the first place in the group.
In the quarterfinals, our team's rivals were the players from AMU Poznań, who left the court defeated with the result of 55:30 for GUT. In the semifinals, two technical universities faced each other, representing Gdańsk and Kraków. The match was even, but in the end our players stood up to the task and once again left the floor unbeaten. Our team, trained by Małgorzata Czerlonko, won 43:36.
In the final match, the GUT team faced the University of Warsaw representation. Winning the first and the third quarter, as well as the consistent play in the last part of the match allowed our team to achieve their sixth victory in the Polish Academic Championships Final!

In the same competition, the male team of Gdańsk University of Technology defeated PWA Gliwice 57:50 and ALK Warsaw 64:57, but were defeated by the future champions – AGH University of Kraków 61:68. In the quarterfinals, the players from Gdańsk proved better than the Łazarski University in Warsaw. In this match, the GUT representatives won 57:48 and advanced to the semifinal.
At this stage of the tournament there are no weak teams, and this match was a confirmation of this fact. The fierce fight for advancing to the final with AWF Wroclaw lasted throughout the entire match, and each of our players put their whole heart and soul into the game. Little was lacking for success. In the last seconds it was the representatives of Wroclaw who tipped the scales of victory to their side and enjoyed the victory of 59:56.
In the match for the 3rd place, the players from Gdańsk faced PNA Gdynia. After an exhausting match in the semifinal, our representatives lost 51:85. This game was especially important to one of our players. After 6 years of representing Gdańsk University of Technology in inter-university games and at the Academic Championships of Poland, Wiktor Specyalski ended his university career. In his last match as a memeber of the GUT team he scored 31 points.
The GUT team was composed of Adam Brenk, Jakub Derkowski, Kamil Hanke, Bartłomiej Jankowski, Łukasz Jaśkiewicz, Robert Kolka, Aleksander Lebiedziński, Wiktor Specyalski, Michał Słupek, and Adam Wąsowicz.
