The Polish Ministry of Science and Higher Education announced the results of the comprehensive evaluation of scientific research or research and development activity of scientific units. We are pleased to announce that two GUT faculties were ranked in the highest category of A+ and five others were ranked A.
"We were waiting for the evaluation results with moderate optimism. Today I can say that they are very satisfactory. It is an outcome of hard work proven by measurable research activity: publications in the most prestigious scientific journals, patents and patent applications, as well as innovative solutions in the fields of science, technology, architecture and art", says Prof. Jacek Namieśnik, rector of Gdańsk University of Technology.
The Faculty of Chemistry and the Faculty of Electronics, Telecommunications and Informatics were ranked in the A+ category, assuring the highest quality of research nationwide.
Five other GUT faculties were ranked in the A category, representing a very good level of scientific activity:
Faculty of Architecture;
Faculty of Electrical and Control Engineering;
Faculty of Civil and Environmental Engineering;
Faculty of Mechanical Engineering;
Faculty of Management and Economics.
The Faculty of Applied Physics and Mathematics and the Faculty of Ocean Engineering and Ship Technology were ranked in the B category, indicating a satisfactory level of scientific research, development activity or economic innovation.
"I am very grateful to the entire GUT staff, which contributed to this great success just like the university and faculty authorities of the current and previous term. Gdańsk University of Technology is now able to apply for the status of a research university, which is going to be introduced as a result of the higher education system reform in Poland", says Prof. Namieśnik.
