Prof. Yu Zhigang, President of Ocean University of China, and Prof. Jacek Namieśnik, Rector of Gdańsk University of Technology, signed a memorandum of understanding and cooperation between the two universities. OUC and GUT are going to exchange lecturers and students, create joint degree programs and research projects, as well as organize conferences, seminars and symposia.
"Knowing the GUT research and development offer, I can say that there are many opportunities for collaboration between our universities. I hope our contacts will continue developing", said Prof. Yu Zhigang.
The Ocean University of China delegation included Prof. Yu Zhigang, the OUC President, Song Wenhong, Director of International Education, Li Yan, Director of Division of Science and Technology, Jiang Wensheng, Dean of College of Environmental Science and Engineering, Wei Zhiqiang, Dean of College of Information Science and Engineering, and Zheng Dongliang, Program Officer from the International Office. Prof. Piotr Dominiak, the GUT Vice-Rector for Internationalization and Innovation, and Maria Doerffer, acting head of the International Relations Office, also participated in the meeting.
Ocean University of China is situated in Qingdao, southeast of Beijing. It is among the 36 best Chinese universities selected as a result of the Double First Class University Plan initiative. OUC is particularly renowned for its departments of marine sciences and fishery sciences.
