GUT Evaluated by the European University Association

Gdańsk University of Technology was positively evaluated by the European University Association (EUA), gaining right to use the prestigious Institutional Evaluation Programme (EUA-IEP) icon for the next five years. GUT is the third Polish institution positively evaluated by the EUA.

Undergoing the evaluation was entirely voluntary. In order to do it, GUT received funding from the Ministry of Science and Higher Education project called "International Accreditations", within the framework of the Knowledge Education Development Operational Program (Program Operacyjny Wiedza Edukacja Rozwój), co-financed by the European Social Fund.

The EUA evaluators came to Gdańsk University of Technology twice, in April and May 2018. They visited faculties and met with authorities, a team responsible for preparing the self-evaluation report, teachers and students, as well as representatives of different university units and other stakeholders. The European University Association evaluated the GUT organization and management. Its members were impressed by positive testimonies of students and graduates, particularly from abroad, who expressed pride and satisfaction with their university of choice. The evaluators paid attention to the GUT advantages while showing possibilities for future organizational development.

"Positive evaluation would not be possible without the involvement of the GUT academic community members, who organized and participated in meetings with the EUA representatives, doing their best to make the evaluators appreciate our efforts for continuous organizational improvement. I am especially grateful to the university team responsible for preparing the self-evaluation report, headed by Prof. Jacek Kropiwnicki from the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering", says Prof. Jacek Namieśnik, the GUT rector.

On the 10th of September 2018, the EUA published the IEP evaluation report, which includes suggestions for the improvement of GUT. Within the next year the university is supposed to prepare a short progress report describing the status of implementing these suggestions. Afterwards, for the next one to three years, GUT will be able to apply for the subsequent evaluation.
