With over nine people applying for one place at our university, GUT was ranked at the first position in this year's list of the most popular Polish universities. The ranking was published by the Ministry of Science and Higher Education.
The top three includes also Warsaw University of Technology (7.6 people applying for one place) and Poznan University of Technology (6.8 people applying for one place). It is worth noting that in the previous edition of the ranking these universities occupied the first two places while GUT was ranked third.
"The popularity of our university among applicants is an outcome of numerous factors: the job market demand for highly qualified engineers, the attractive courses offered by our faculties and the good opinions about our graduates expressed by their employers", says Prof. Jacek Namieśnik, rector of GUT.
This academic year over 3,500 undergraduate full-time students were admitted to Gdańsk University of Technology, almost half of them women. Among these new students there are 21 scientific contest winners. More than 200 people, mostly women, enrolled to graduate full-time programs.
Fields of study with the highest number of applications nationwide included data analysis and engineering as well as engineering management, a course offered exclusively by the GUT Faculty of Management and Economics.
