Open Science Hub: Unlocking the Potential of Doctoral Research: Library Services and Open Access

10 November 2026 11:00 - 12:30
Doctoral students occupy a special place in the academic community - on the one hand, they are participants in the educational process, and on the other, they are already conducting independent research. In our presentation, we would like to demonstrate how the Gdansk University of Technology Library strives to support PhD students in their daily research work through training and consultations on Open Science, as well as promoting their scientific work by providing Open Access to the widest possible audience.
During the presentation, we will explain how the Gdansk Tech Library supports doctoral students by collecting and depositing doctoral dissertations defended at the university in the open institutional repository MOST Wiedzy. Among other things, we will outline the current structure for making the collection of doctoral dissertations available and discuss the reorganization of this structure, with a particular focus on improving the quality of metadata descriptions.
In the second part of our meeting, we would like you to share your own experiences and good practices. How does your cooperation with doctoral students look like? Do you provide additional trainings tailored to their needs? How does the PhD dissertations’ acquisition and promotion look like at your universities?
