He graduated with honors in 2017 and earned his PhD with distinction in 2023 for work on spatial audio in networked music performances. I have industrial background of 30 years in the development and application of composite materials. I gathered my scientific experience working in over 40 national and international research projects. Dr Thorsten Philipp is a Privatdozent in Communication Studies at the Faculty of Humanities and Educational Sciences, TU Berlin. As Academic Advisor for Transdisciplinary Education, he strategically promotes university-spanning projects that link academia with business, culture, politics and civil society. Thorsten studied Art History, Romance Studies and Political Science at the universities of Munich, Vienna, Brescia and Aix-en-Provence. After research placements in Munich and Uppsala, he served in Brussels as a policy advisor on environment and development, before teaching at Zeppelin University Friedrichshafen, Leuphana University Lüneburg and the University of Freiburg. In 2024, he completed his habilitation at TU Berlin with a cumulative work on Soundscape, Conflict and Communication, which examines pop music as a sounding board for ecological crises. His current research interests include the pedagogy of transdisciplinary collaboration and techniques of political communication in pop culture.
