The Francium Supporting Outstanding Doctoral Candidates Program is part of the implementation of the tasks of the IDUB Program, which is aimed at stimulating the research activity of doctoral students of the Doctoral School at Gdańsk University of Technology, and in particular at directing this activity towards cooperation with foreign entities. Within the program pro-quality scholarships are granted to outstanding participants of the Doctoral School, especially to doctoral students conducting research in international cooperation.

The most important changes introduced:

  • 3rd and 4th year PhD students can participate in the program (2nd year can participate in Polonium)
  • change of participation criteria regarding employment
  • change in the amounts of scholarships awarded and the method of awarding them.
For whom?

Applications for a scholarship may be submitted by participants of the Doctoral School in their third or fourth year who meet the mandatory conditions 

Mandatory conditions for submission: 
    

  1. having a positive opinion of the supervisor regarding the progress of the research work; 
  2. possession of at least one scientific article published or manuscript accepted for publication in a journal indexed in  Scopus and/or Web of Science, located in the Q1 or Q2 quartile (excluding papers published or accepted for publication in journals of publishers using the Business Open Access model), in which the doctoral student is the first or second author, which was written after the start of education and is substantively related to the future dissertation,
  3. enclosing with the application a statement by the doctoral student on the substantive connection of the article referred to in section 2 with the future dissertation, signed by the doctoral student and supervisor.
  • Applications may also be submitted by doctoral students after their fourth year, who have obtained an extension of their training at the Doctoral School, and previously the payment of their pro-quality scholarships was suspended in accordance of the rules 
  • Doctoral students who are employed under a contract of employment in excess of 0.25 FTE or are self-employed are not eligible to apply for the scholarship.
What you stand to gain?
  • The pro-quality academic scholarship in the Program is max. PLN 4 000 per month. 
  • The scholarship is awarded for a period of 12 months - for a given academic year. If the competition is announced during the academic year, the scholarship is paid with compensation from October of that academic year.
  • Scholarships are paid only by transfer to the account indicated by the doctoral student in the computer system of the university MojaPG.

Please note

Only publications in English or another congressional language are considered for the competition, excluding works published in the following publications from the so-called "Business Model Open Access" group: BioMed Central, Copernicus Publications, Dove Medical Press, Frontiers, Hindawi, MDPI, Open Library of Humanities, PLOS, International Business Information Management Association, as well as the European Research Studies Journal.

The Commission reserves the right not to consider applications in which a doctoral student:
a) showed more than 2 achievements in the relevant application;
b) presented achievements for evaluation beyond the regulatory dates,
c) presented achievements that are not subject to evaluation in accordance with these detailed criteria
