The Francium Supporting Outstanding Doctoral Candidates Program is part of the implementation of the tasks of the IDUB Program, which is aimed at stimulating the research activity of doctoral students of the Doctoral School at Gdańsk University of Technology, and in particular at directing this activity towards cooperation with foreign entities. Within the program pro-quality scholarships are granted to outstanding participants of the Doctoral School, especially to doctoral students conducting research in international cooperation.

For whom?

Applications for a scholarship may be submitted by participants of the Doctoral School in their third or fourth year who meet the mandatory conditions 

Mandatory conditions for submission: 
    

  1. Possessing a positive opinion of the supervisor regarding the progress of the research work; 
  2. Possessing at least one scientific article published or manuscript accepted for publication in the 2024/2025 academic year in a journal indexed in Scopus and/or Web of Science, ranked in Q1 or Q2 quartile (excluding papers published in journals by publishers using the Business Open Access Model), in which the doctoral student is the first or second author and is substantively related to the future doctoral dissertation).
  3. enclosing with the application a statement by the doctoral student on the substantive connection of the article referred to in section 2 with the future dissertation, signed by the doctoral student and supervisor.
  • Applications may also be submitted by doctoral students after their fourth year, who have obtained an extension of their training at the Doctoral School, and previously the payment of their pro-quality scholarships was suspended in accordance of the rules 

The publication must be published between October 1, 2024, and September 30, 2025 (the date of online publication is important (e.g., the so-called online first version), or—in the case of works accepted for publication but not yet published—the date of acceptance of the manuscript by the publisher/journal). In the case of unpublished works that have been accepted for publication, it is necessary to attach the relevant confirmation to the application (e.g., a print screen from the system/e-mail from the editorial office). Publications in journals using the Business Open Access Model, i.e., BioMed Central, Copernicus Publications, Dove Medical Press, Frontiers, Hindawi, MDPI, Open Library of Humanities, PLOSone, International Business Information Management Association, and European Research Studies Journal.

Please note

The following persons are not eligible to apply for a scholarship under the Program:
1) doctoral students employed on the basis of an employment contract at Gdańsk University of Technology in administrative and technical positions exceeding 0.25 FTE,
2) doctoral students employed outside Gdańsk University of Technology, regardless of the form of employment, and/or self-employed (and/or running a business).

What you stand to gain?
  • The pro-quality academic scholarship in the Program is max. PLN 4 000 per month. 
  • The scholarship is awarded for a period of 12 months - for a given academic year. If the competition is announced during the academic year, the scholarship is paid with compensation from October of that academic year.
  • Scholarships are paid only by transfer to the account indicated by the doctoral student in the computer system of the university MojaPG.

The Commission reserves the right not to consider applications in which a doctoral student:
a) showed more than 2 achievements in the relevant application;
b) presented achievements for evaluation beyond the regulatory dates,
c) presented achievements that are not subject to evaluation in accordance with these detailed criteria

  • Funds under the Program are awarded in a competitive mode.
  • Call for the program will run from October 6 to November 5, untill 11:59 p.m.
