The Annual Meeting of the WP2 in Aachen

aachen_meeting

Between October 13th and 15th, the annual meeting of the WP2 work package group will take place in Aachen as part of the ENHANCE Alliance. Each day will be dedicated to a different thematic group, during which project development statuses will be discussed, and goals and trends for the new academic year 2025/2026 will be set.

The first day will focus on topics such as upskilling, diversity, and innovation in educational institutions, with the central theme being the pilot GREAT (CIE) Programme.
This programme aims to expand ENHANCE's offering in two target groups: academic administration, which currently has limited opportunities for professional and personal development, and staff with functional and neurodiverse educational needs. The goal is to integrate local initiatives of the alliance universities with the GREAT programme for both groups.

The second day will center on career development, mentoring, and project implementation.
This panel will cover programmes such as:

  • Implementation of the Extended DISC Model, a mentoring programme targeted at early-career researchers. This programme supports students' professional development, enhances communication and the building of professional relationships, and provides guidance on research matters, leadership, methodology, career planning, and the development of local and international professional and research networks. The tool is successfully used in over 40 countries in the context of professional growth.

  • STEM Ambassador, a programme in which female students share their personal STEM journeys with younger students through international events and promotional activities via ENHANCE communication channels, becoming a source of inspiration for future generations in STEM.

  • VP Research, which includes mentoring sessions for PhD supervisors and early-career researchers. This programme provides broad support, including legal aspects of research activity and ENHANCE Research Internships. VP Research facilitates the exchange of experiences and best practices, particularly in the area of joint doctoral degrees (cotutelle).

The third day of the WP2 meeting in Aachen will be entirely dedicated to summarizing, together with colleagues from partner universities of the ENHANCE Alliance, the topics of career path development and mentoring, and to setting shared goals for the 2025/2026 academic year.
