Description

Logistics Planning aims at having the right item in the right quantity at the right time at the right place at the right cost. The main drivers of logistics system costs are the design of the logistics network, transportation, and warehouse operations. This fully virtual course introduces the most important planning tasks in these fields from a quantitative viewpoint using mathematical modeling techniques and optimization methods.

Expected learning outcomes

• understand the complexity of logistics planning problems,

• model planning problems in network design, transportation and warehouse management,

• apply basic optimization methods to address the described problems.

Prerequisites

Fundamental knowledge in mathematical modeling and Operations Research

Examination in English

Grading System

100% exam + grade bonus: quizzes will be made available throughout the semester. By completing at least 75% of them successfully, the final grade will be increased by one grade step, e.g., from 2.0 to 1.7.
