Summary of ENHANCE+ WP7 Summit in Gdańsk 23rd-25th June 2025
Annual WP7 Meeting contained two main conferences:
-
"Study Programme Coordinators meeting",
-
"ENHANCE Education Officers and International Mobility Coordinators".
During „Study Programme Coordinators meeting” we have tuned into education offer of ENHANCE Thematic Paths and their activation. Relevant courses have been identified for the long term mobility, also short term offers such as summer schools and thesis research co-supervision initiatives are leading to closer and deeper cooperation among Academics. With regards to the mobility semesters, pre-emptive and automatic recognition of thematic path package of the courses and learning opportunities (corresponding ECTS) is one of the basic principles of this cooperation. The Thematic Path has been specifically designed to address a critical need expressed by students during their academic mobility- the desire to specialize in a particular research topic within the broad field of their studies. Students frequently request that professors provide guidance and supervision for their credit selection, aiming to achieve a coherent and high-quality educational experience while studying abroad. This is precisely where the course oriented selection comes into play. The Thematic Path, by its very nature facilitates this. It guides the student towards a more targeted and highly focused selection of courses by offering a pre-defined framework of relevant subjects aligned with specific research themes. This structured approach directly responds to the students' request for an oriented course selection, ensuring that their chosen credits contribute meaningfully to their specialization goals.
Second part of the conference was dedicated to ENHANCE Education Officers and International Mobility Coordinators, whose mandate was to build up the administrative and logistical framework to accommodate the activation of the Thematic Paths designed by the Academic Staff.
The workshop led to the clear definition of the elements forming the Thematic Paths, while taking into account the national requirements of each ENHANCE member. This led to the adoption of an institutional framework and a roadmap to guide the Education Officers and Mobility Coordinators through the steps of the implementation of the Thematic Paths in their calls for mobility and in the communications to students.
While generally contributing to the increase of mobility exchange numbers among the ENHANCE member universities, ENHANCE Thematic Paths also aim at encouraging double mobility, whereby students are motivated in embarking on a mobility semester plus on a short term innovative learning experience or on a thesis research period. The workgroup will also keep defining the criteria and requirements for the award of the ENHANCE Degree Label to all students who will have completed all required steps.
The activation of Thematic Paths is contributing to the fostering of a “One campus” vision, for the Scientists and the Engineers of the future, who will be further empowered to complete their education in at least two European universities, with a sense of belonging to a common institution and of being exposed to the latest trends and innovations of the technology field.
