Become a mentor for the ENHANCE Cross-Border Mentoring Programme

mentor
We are pleased to announce the launch of the ENHANCE Cross-Border Mentoring Programme in October 2025 (open period for mentee applications), supporting early-stage researchers in STEM through international, goal-oriented mentoring. The programme fosters professional development, intercultural exchange, and cross-border collaboration.

Detailed information about the programme

Becoming a mentor is a unique opportunity to share your experience and knowledge with early-stage researchers who are just starting their academic journey. As a mentor, you will support your mentee in developing research skills, planning their career, and exploring different pathways—both within and beyond academia. The programme is designed as a half-year cross-border mentoring cycle, tailored to the mentee’s goals, with monthly one-hour mentor–mentee meetings.

Each mentee will also complete an Extended DISC® assessment, which is reviewed with a certified consultant. The consultant will provide insights to both mentee and mentor and help shape a tailored mentoring programme, strengthening self-awareness, communication, and collaboration. By joining as a mentor, you will have the chance to:

  • Build international connections and a professional network within the ENHANCE Alliance;
  • Enhance your own leadership and communication skills;
  • Make a tangible contribution to the growth of the next generation of researchers;
  • Exchange perspectives across diverse academic and cultural contexts.

Participation requires only a modest time commitment but offers a rewarding and impactful experience for both mentor and mentee.

Programme Objectives
  1. Support early-stage researchers in STEM by providing them with the necessary skills, knowledge, and confidence to advance in their careers;
  1. Offer guidance on essential topics such as research methodologies, grant writing, publishing, career planning, and leadership development;
  1. Foster cross-institutional and international collaboration, enhancing professional networks and exposure to diverse academic cultures;
  1. Promote mutual learning and cultural exchange through mentor-mentee pairings from different countries and research contexts.

Mentors will play a vital role in guiding early-stage researchers, while benefiting from international networking and cross-institutional exchange.
