ULO students in a European project about the future of education
Between September 15–19, students from the Paweł Adamowicz Bilingual Academic High School participated in international educational workshops held as part of the Enhance Future Lab project. The initiative was made possible thanks to the collaboration between Gdańsk University of Technology and several European technical universities under the ENHANCE+ program.

This year's edition focused on the impact of artificial intelligence on education – exploring both its risks and possibilities. The event brought together 16 students from six countries: Poland, Germany, Sweden, Italy, Spain, and Norway.

The program was divided into two parallel modules – one for students and one for their accompanying teachers. The students focused on analyzing how AI tools influence learning and teaching processes, while also reflecting on what the school of the future might look like. On the first day, participants worked together to create a dystopian vision of education dominated by AI – a school stripped of human relationships, creativity, and empathy, where AI replaces teachers and online lessons become the only mode of learning.
In the following days, students explored the technical foundations of AI in a lecture prepared by the Technical University of Berlin. They also developed their own visions of both formal and informal education and defined what they considered to be its key goals. Working in international groups encouraged discussion, critical thinking, and the defense of their viewpoints.

One of the program’s most thought-provoking elements was the task titled Break Up Letter – a symbolic “breakup” with the traditional education system. Participants expressed their concerns about current models of education and identified the areas most in need of change. The workshop concluded with presentations of original student projects, each illustrating their vision of future education – through graphics, short films, leaflets, or video ads. The final event was attended by teachers and project coordinators, including Prof. Susann Fegter from the Technical University of Berlin.

Alongside the student sessions, a parallel program was held for teachers. Topics included the functioning of artificial intelligence, its limitations, and the ways it can support educational work. Key discussion points also addressed how to implement AI in teaching, assess student knowledge in the age of AI, and redefine the role of the teacher. Participants worked on outlining practical strategies for schools to adopt in the near future.
The program also included a cultural component. Participants visited landmarks such as the Reichstag building, the center of Berlin, and the modern museum of the future – Futurium, which offers an interactive look at possible scenarios for global development.
Participation in the Enhance Future Lab project doesn't end with the Berlin workshops. On the contrary – the experience and connections gained serve as a springboard for further local and international initiatives. For the ULO community, it represents not only a prestigious distinction but also a genuine opportunity to help shape the education of tomorrow.
