Why join?

Looking to dive deep into advanced photovoltaic technologies and photonic engineering? Our intensive, short-term course offers the perfect blend of rigorous theory, hands-on laboratory practice, and solar cell modeling—leading to a recognized European micro-credential! Here is what you will experience:

  • Understand the core: Learn the operating principles of solar cells, from the energetic structure of materials to detailed charge carrier transport mechanisms.
    • The "Photovoltaics Summer School" program is an interdisciplinary learning opportunity that combines advanced photovoltaic technologies and photonic engineering phenomena. Designed as a short-term, intensive course leading to a European micro-credential, it merges a rigorous theoretical introduction with intensive laboratory practice and modeling activities.
  • Get hands-on: Measure optoelectronic characteristics and analyze energy balances in the lab.
    • Participants will learn about the operating principles of solar cells – from the energetic structure of materials to detailed charge carrier transport mechanisms. During the laboratory and simulation parts, students will measure optoelectronic characteristics, analyze energy balances and simulate the operation of solar cells using dedicated software. Emphasis is placed on practical knowledge and engineering skills necessary to take part and contribute to the global transition to the green and digital economy.
  • Simulate reality: Use dedicated software to model the operation of solar cells.
    • Gain the practical knowledge and engineering skills necessary to take part and contribute to the global shift toward a green and digital economy.

Selection Criteria

  • Scientific background: Alignment of your academic interests and activities (e.g., previous achievements, science clubs, projects, publications) with the Summer School's scope.
  • Motivation: Your drive to acquire new knowledge in the field of photovoltaics and photonics.
  • Academic performance: Grade Point Average (GPA) from completed semesters.
  • Language skills: English proficiency at a minimum B2 level.
  • Field of study: Enrollment in physics, optics, optoelectronics, electronics, electrical engineering, mechatronics, or related fields.
