Summer Interns at the ENHANCE Office - A Summary Full of International Cooperation and Creativity

interns

During the past summer season, the ENHANCE Office at Gdańsk University of Technology had the pleasure of hosting two talented interns: Carina Cornely from RWTH Aachen University and Jakub Idzik from Gdańsk Tech. Their presence in our team was a great opportunity to exchange experiences and show how fruitful cooperation with representatives of partner universities can be.

During the internship, Carina and Jakub formed a perfectly complementary team, working closely together on the office's most important initiatives. Their combined forces were a great support, especially in the comprehensive organization of events and summer schools. Together, they took care of preparing necessary materials, smoothly coordinating planned activities, and efficiently carrying out administrative tasks. They were also irreplaceable in daily communication, helping out and acting as the first point of contact for students and participants.

Another area of their successful cooperation was the promotion of ENHANCE activities. Carina and Jakub combined their creativity, engaging in the preparation of various visual and informational materials. Together, they worked on graphics, presentations, short video formats, engaging social media content (including Instagram posts), and printed materials.

Different Experiences, Shared Work

Despite being involved in the same projects, each intern gained unique value from this experience:

Carina

For Carina, who came to Gdańsk under the Erasmus+ programme (while completing a dual apprenticeship at RWTH Aachen University), it was a great opportunity to gain practical experience abroad. As she noted herself, she most appreciated the opportunity to work in an international environment, meet people from different countries, and use English every day. She also emphasized that she felt very welcome in the team from the very beginning, and Gdańsk itself captivated her as a beautiful city full of places to discover.

Jakub

Jakub, on the other hand, noted that the internship gave him a better understanding of office work from both organizational and promotional perspectives. Thanks to his active involvement in educational projects, he gained valuable insight into their planning and implementation, and significantly improved his skills in designing engaging visual content.

Furthermore, our cooperation with Jakub continues – now, at the end of September, he joined us at the ENHANCE Meeting for Researchers in Czarlin (September 21–23), where he actively helped in organizing and coordinating the event on-site. The acquired knowledge and practical skills will undoubtedly be beneficial in his further education and future professional career.

Since students and PhD candidates make up half of our permanent team, Carina and Jakub, with their energy, naturally fit into the working dynamics of the ENHANCE Office from day one.

We would like to thank our interns for their contribution to the ongoing projects and wish them every success in their future professional and academic paths!
