What’s new in the field of superconductors?
Professor Tuson Park is the Head of the Center for Quantum Materials and Superconductivity of the Department of Physics of Sungkyunkwan University, without a doubt, one of the best universities in the world (rank 97 in the QS World University Rankings). He is a coauthor of numerous scientific papers published in most prestigious journals, including Nature, Nature Physics, and Nature Communications.
Professor Tuson Park has graduated from Sungkyunkwan University, where he obtained his B.Sc. and M.Sc. degrees in Physics. He moved to the University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign, USA, for his doctoral studies that he finished in 2003. Right after, he got a position of a Postdoctoral Research Associate, and later, of a prestigious Robert Oppenheimer (JRO) Postdoctoral Fellow in Los Alamos National Laboratory, USA. Since 2008, he is working as a professor specializing in condensed matter physics at his Alma Matter, Sungkyunkwan University, South Korea.
Superconductivity, Strongly Correlated Electron Systems, Extreme Conditions, Quantum Phase Transitions, Heavy Fermion, Quantum Criticality, are the topics of his scientific interests.
This Thursday, Jan 13, 4:00 - 6:00 pm, Professor Park will give a special talk on Recent progress in superconductivity for the students of the Faculty of Applied Physics and Mathematics, aiming to give a glimpse of current research in the physics of condensed matter. Macroscopic quantum phenomena, such as superconductivity and magnetism, will be discussed along with the experimental methods that probe transport and thermodynamic physical properties. Introduction to various quantum phenomena, including superconductivity and heavy fermion state, quasiparticle scattering spectroscopy in probing SC properties, the interplay between superconductivity and quantum criticality will be of our special interest this time.
Join us! Classes will be conducted via MS Teams, and are open to all Gdańsk Tech students and employees.
Lectures of Professor Park will be financed from the POWER 3.5 project of the Integrated Development Program of Gdańsk University of Technology.
