In QS World University Rankings 2025, Gdańsk University of Technology ranked between 801 and 850, achieving the 5th result among 22 Polish universities classified in the ranking.
The 2025 edition of QS WUR presents the best universities from around the world, covered 105 locations. The universities were ranked and only the best 1,503 universities were finally classified according to the ranking rules.
The university's ranking score was based on nine indicators:

- Employer reputation survey – 15%
- Number of academic teachers per student – 10%
- Number of citations per researcher – 20%

ARWU – ShanghaiRanking's Academic Ranking of World Universities
In 2024, Gdańsk University of Technology ranked between 801 and 900.
ARWU is one of the most prestigious and influential university rankings. It ranks universities from around the world according to several indicators:
- Alumni or staff honoured with a Nobel Prize or Fields Medal – total 30%
- HiCi (Highly Cited Researchers) – 20%
- N&S (Papers published in Nature and Science) – 20%

THE World University Rankings
THE World University Rankings 2025 ranked 2092 universities from 115 countries and territories. Gdańsk University of Technology was ranked between 1001 and 1200.
This ranking based on the new WUR 3.0 methodology, which includes 18 indicators grouped into five areas:
- Teaching (learning environment) – 29.5% weighting;
- Research environment (size, income and reputation) – 29%;
- Research quality (citation impact, research strength, research excellence and research impact) – 30%;
- Internationalisation (staff, students and research) – 7.5%;
- Industry (income and patents) – 4%.

In 2024-2025 ranking, Gdańsk Tech ranked at 1079 position in the world and 392 position in Europe.
Best Global Universities Rankings ranks universities from the US and more than 90 other countries based on 13 indicators that measure academic research performance and their global and regional reputation.

Regional Rankings:
QS University Rankings Europe
In 2023 QS University Rankings published a ranking of exclusively European universities for the first time. It ranked 688 universities from 42 countries.
In 2024, in the second edition of the ranking, Gdańsk Tech improves its performance by 17 positions. It was ranked 302nd in the ranking. In the classification of universities from Eastern European countries, Gdańsk University of Technology was ranked 21st. Nationally, it was ranked 5th and at the same time is the second-highest ranked university of technology from Poland.
Sustainability and Impact Rankings:
UI GreenMetric World University Ranking
In the UI GreenMetric 2024 ranking, Gdańsk University of Technology was ranked 1st in Poland and 199th in the world, scoring over 80%.
Gdańsk Tech was rated highest in the 'education and research' category, where it scored 95.83%. This result confirms that the University is among the top leaders in education and research activities related to environmental protection and sustainability.
The UI GreenMetric ranking examines the university's commitment to environmental issues (including infrastructure, transport, water and electricity consumption, waste management, climate and environmental care). The wealth of educational offerings and research activities undertaken in the area of sustainability is also an important consideration for the organiser. The UI GreenMetric ranking is one of the most important and prestigious university rankings for sustainability and environmental protection in the world.
QS World University Rankings: Sustainability
QS Sustainability Ranking evaluates a university's commitment to and achievements in advancing the Sustainable Development Goals. In the QS Sustainability 2025 ranking, Gdańsk University of Technology was placed 4th among Polish universities, 190th among European universities, and 424th globally.
The ranking focused on the assessment of universities in 3 areas: environmental and social impact and corporate governance, considering them important in the assessment of the university's efforts to solve the most relevant problems of today's world and to promote more sustainable production and consumption. Gdańsk University of Technology was rated highest in the area of corporate governance (ranked 263th in the world).
The QS Sustainability 2025 ranking included 1743 universities from around the world, including 560 from Europe and 22 from Poland.
THE Impact Rankings
THE Impact is a global ranking based on the Sustainable Development Goals created by the United Nations. In THE Impact 2024, Gdańsk Tech was ranked between 401-600 globally and second in Poland .
Out of 17 Sustainable Development Goals, Gdańsk Tech was ranked in 12 of them, in three achieving the best score in Poland: Clean water and sanitation (SGD 6), Responsible production and consumption (SDG 12) and Partnerships for the Goals (SDG 17).

Webometrics Ranking Web of Universities
In 2024, Gdańsk University of Technology was ranked 1079th in the world.
Webometrics is a ranking that primarily considers the presence and visibility of universities on the web, although it is not a ranking of university websites. The purpose of the Webometrics ranking is to increase the online presence of academic and research institutions, to support Open Access endeavour and to encourage universities and researchers to ensure that their online presence reflects the reality of what they do.
The webometric indicators also measure – in an indirect way – other missions of universities, such as teaching or the 'third mission', taking into account not only the scientific impact of the university's activities, but also the economic importance of technology transfer to industry or social engagement. The results of the ranking are published twice a year.

GRAS – ShanghaiRanking's Global Ranking of Academic Subjects
In 2024 edition of GRAS Gdańsk Tech was ranked in two subjects. In Instruments Science & Technology subject ranked 151-200 position in the world and in Mechanical Engineering subject – 301-400.
ShanghaiRanking began to publish world university ranking by academic subjects in 2009. The ranking is divided into 55 categories/disciplines, covering life sciences, engineering, life sciences, medical sciences and social sciences. More than 1,900 universities from 96 countries and regions were ranked in the 2024 subject ranking.
Several factors are taken into account for the ranking, these include the number of scientific publications (Q1) and their citations in a given field (CNCI), the share of foreign authors in the unit's publications (IC), the number of articles published in top scientific journals (Top) and the number of staff members who have received a significant award in a specific field (Award).

In the QS World University Rankings by Subject 2024, Gdańsk University of Technology was ranked 3rd among Polish universities and 370 in whole world in the Engineering & Technology broad subject and in the range 501-550 in globe in the broad subject Natural Sciences.
In narrow subjects, Gdańsk Tech achieved the best results in:

In THE World University Rankings by Subject 2024, Gdańsk University of Technology was ranked 601-800 in the Engineering, Computer Sciences, Business and Economics and Life Sciences areas, and 801-1000 in the Physical Sciences ranking.
Nationally, in terms of Research quality, Gdańsk Tech was ranked 1st in Engineering and Physical Sciences and 3rd in Business and Economics.

In the U.S. News Best Global Universities Subject Rankings 2024-2025 published in 2024, Gdańsk University of Technology was ranked in 7 disciplines:

- 499th position in Electrical and Electronic Engineering
- 525th position in Materials Science

Polish Rankings:
Ranking Perspektywy
In Perspektywy 2024 Gdańsk Tech ranked 3rd among technical universities in Poland, and in the classification covering all Polish universities it promoted to 5th position.
Three courses repeated their success from the previous edition and won 1st place in Poland. These are:
- Spatial Management (Faculty of Architecture)
- Environmental Engineering (Faculty of Civil and Environmental Engineering)
- Chemical Technology (Faculty of Chemistry)
For years, Gdańsk University of Technology has been one of the most popular universities in Poland.
In the academic year 2023/2024, an average of almost 8 (7.9) candidates applied for one place to study, thus our University was recognised by the Ministry of Education and Science as the most popular public university among candidates for full-time studies.
