The Centre for EU Transport Projects (CUPT) operates under the Ministry of Transport and manages EU funds for investment projects in the field of transport. The institution has been supporting their preparation and implementation for 15 years. CUPT is also responsible for developing the Integrated Traffic Model. This tool is designed to support transport planning at national, regional, and local levels. The model aims to assist institutions that provide public transport services in planning and making investment decisions.
The activities related to developing the model will now be supported by Gdańsk Tech. The university has just signed a cooperation agreement with CUPT.
– Experts from Gdańsk Tech have many years of scientific and practical experience in traffic modelling and transport planning. We are convinced that through the established cooperation, we will be able to provide CUPT with strong substantive support in planning transport systems and assessing their effectiveness – summarised the signed agreement, PhD hab. Eng. Joanna Żukowska, DSc, prof. GT, Dean of the Faculty of Civil and Environmental Engineering at Gdańsk Tech.
The agreement was signed on Wednesday, 28 September 2022. The joint effort will enable the exchange of information for transport analyses and the development of analytical tools in the area of traffic modelling and forecasting.
Currently, CUPT uses the Integrated Traffic Model to support meeting the funding conditions for transport investments in the financial perspective 2021-2027. In addition, thanks to the ITM, the institution can implement and initiate organizational and systemic solutions supporting the implementation of transport projects, which also constitutes an important element of planning the country’s transport network.
