PhD Open, a funding program for participation in conferences, outings to concerts, and sports activities – these are just some of the initiatives of the Doctoral Students' Council of Gdańsk Tech. For its activities aimed at integrating doctoral students, as well as promoting sports and culture, the DSCG Board was recognized in the competition for the most pro-doctoral initiatives of the past academic year, ProDOK.

The activities of the Doctoral Student Council at Gdańsk Tech in the past academic year (2022/2023) were recognized by the ProDOK doctoral community competition jury in the Active Council category. The evaluation focused on the council's engagement in various initiatives, especially organizational, cultural, sports, and artistic activities.

In the cultural sphere, the Doctoral Student Council organized outings to cultural events, including the Zimmer vs. Williams film music concert and the closing of the artistic season at the Baltic Philharmonic. Any member of the doctoral community could apply for tickets to these events. In total, 90 people took advantage of this opportunity.

As part of promoting sports, activities such as aqua aerobics classes were organized, swimming pool rentals were covered, funding was provided for (#RUNGDN Sobieszewo and Oliwa), and participation in sports events was promoted (Wings For Life). The council is currently finalizing the implementation of a card system allowing access to sports facilities under preferential conditions.

The Doctoral Student Council board also organized integration events for its members. A Christmas Party, a holiday banquet and integration event, took place at the Academic Club Kwadratowa, attended by over 130 people. Additionally, in October, 200 people participated in the PhD Open at Gdańsk Tech – an event aimed at doctoral school candidates and doctoral students.

Furthermore, the Doctoral Student Council announced a continuous conference funding program, offering the possibility of obtaining financial support for participation in scientific events in the amount of PLN 750 (domestic) and PLN 2,500 (international). In the 2022/2023 academic year, 75 people benefited from this support. The council also actively supports the organization of student and doctoral conferences (IAKOŚ23, IMPLANTY).

Moreover, within the Doctoral Student Council operates the Orientation Welcoming Committee, which is working on implementing a technical doctoral student guide in English. The Competence Improvement Committee cooperates with the Foreign Language Teaching Centre to prepare an offer of language courses funded by the council and a language café where doctoral students can teach each other their languages.
