Modern Technologies on Board the Dar Pomorza Thanks to CI TASK
The implementation of the project required the use of non-standard engineering solutions due to the specific nature of the vessel and the marine environment. The fibre-optic installation was designed to allow for easy and safe disconnection of the infrastructure in the event that the vessel needs to be moved. The components and materials used ensure high resistance to moisture, salinity, and variable weather conditions, thus guaranteeing long-term and reliable performance of the connection in a maritime setting.
The fibre-optic cable was routed to the Faculty of Navigation building at the Maritime University in Gdynia, where a TASK CC network node is located. This node serves the Faculty as well as nearby research and development institutions, such as the National Marine Fisheries Research Institute and the Institute of Meteorology and Water Management.

A camera is installed on the roof of the aforementioned Maritime University building, providing live video footage of the surrounding area.
This project exemplifies how long-standing collaboration between universities and research and development institutions enables initiatives that exceed the capabilities of individual entities. Thanks to the new connection, the Dar Pomorza now has access to modern ICT infrastructure, opening new possibilities in areas such as exhibition management, facility security, and the implementation of educational and promotional activities.
