In the face of the dynamic development of digitization, artificial intelligence, digital twins, and cybersecurity, possessing state-of-the-art competencies is essential. The Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and Ship Technology at Gdańsk Tech responds to global challenges by launching the one-year postgraduate studies Digital Skills for Wind Energy Systems as well as unique modular courses that allow acquiring skills tailored to the needs of those starting work in the industry or seeking to complement their knowledge with the latest information.

Digital Skills for Wind Energy Systems is a program conducted as part of the international DigiWind project, which is sponsored by PGE Baltica.

– The Digital Skills for Wind Energy Systems study program focuses on modern technologies in wind energy and is aimed at specialists who want to actively participate in the energy transition and the development of renewable energy sources, especially in the context of digitalization and automation of systems. This offer is primarily for engineers and individuals with technical education who want to deepen their knowledge in the design, operation, and monitoring of wind farms, both onshore and offshore – emphasizes MSc Eng. Wojciech Olszewski, head of the postgraduate studies.

The program is available to individuals working in the energy, automation, electrotechnics, and mechanics sectors, as well as those specializing in IT systems, data analysis, or artificial intelligence—areas used in the modern RES sector. Great emphasis is placed here on digital solutions: the use of cloud computing, edge computing, digital twins, SCADA systems, predictive maintenance methods, and cybersecurity in critical infrastructure.

The studies are open to management staff who want to better understand the technological potential of wind farms, energy production optimization, or integration with the capacity market and smart power grids. A significant part of the program addresses sustainable development and ESG strategies.

Course topics and modules

The study program can be taken as a whole (full postgraduate studies) or by selecting individual areas only. The modules will also be available as separate courses – for those interested in selected topics and who need to supplement their knowledge and skills in one or several areas only. Thanks to this flexibility, learning can be adapted to individual needs and time possibilities. The studies will be conducted in Polish.
