Pomeranian Universities to Jointly Inaugurate the Academic Year
The vibrant parade—rich with symbols of academic tradition—will begin assembling near the Golden Gate at 10:30 a.m. Promptly at 11:00 a.m., the procession will set off along Długa Street toward Długi Targ and the Artus Court.
The parade will be accompanied by an array of artistic performances provided by the Gdańsk Academic Orchestra, as well as stilt walkers, jugglers, unicyclists, and performers in mirrored costumes—all of whom will contribute to the event’s visual and celebratory character.
Each year, the parade brings together students, faculty members, university authorities, and representatives of local government, serving as a space for the cultivation of academic unity. It is also an opportunity to demonstrate that the strength of our academic community lies in collaboration.
Similar celebrations across Europe—such as Queima das Fitas in Coimbra or The Cortège in Gothenburg—have long attracted thousands of participants and city residents. Gdańsk, following in this tradition, is shaping its own custom that intertwines academia, culture, and youthful energy.
We invite you to take part—may this collective march mark the beginning of a year filled with new ideas and inspiration. Long Live Science!
