Gdańsk Tech Doctoral School to Officially Open the Academic Year
The event will begin at 10:00 AM in the Main Hall (Aula) of the university’s Main Building. The primary aim is to formally open the new academic year and to welcome newly admitted PhD students into the doctoral community.
This year’s edition will focus on the future of science, as well as the skills and challenges that early-career researchers are likely to face. The program combines a formal welcome for new doctoral students with inspirational panel discussions and practical presentations.
Highlights of the program include:
- An inaugural lecture entitled “Navigating Troubled Waters in the Quest for Success in Science” by Dominik Antonowicz, PhD, DSc, Professor at Nicolaus Copernicus University;
- A panel discussion on “The Future of Science: What Skills Will Be Essential for Scientists in 2040”;
- A lecture entitled “Why Ethics Matters: A Personal Perspective on Research Integrity” by Mariya E. Ivanova, PhD, Eng., from the Center of Excellence H2Start at Trakia University.
This year’s PhD Open is targeted at current doctoral students as well as undergraduate students interested in pursuing a PhD at Gdańsk Tech’s Doctoral School.
Participation in the event is free of charge, but due to organizational reasons, advance registration via an online form is required. The number of available places is limited, and registration will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis.
For those unable to attend in person, the event will also be live-streamed online.
