Gdańsk Tech with a record number of eight subjects in the GRAS 2025 ranking

The Gdańsk University of Technology achieved its best result ever in ShanghaiRanking's Global Ranking of Academic Subjects (GRAS) 2025. This year's edition ranked as many as eight academic subjects represented by Gdańsk Tech, which is a significant increase compared to 2019-2024, when the university was ranked in two or three areas.

The highest-ranked subject at the Gdańsk University of Technology is Marine/Ocean Engineering, which was ranked in the 76-100 range globally, taking first place in Poland. Instruments Science & Technology was also ranked high, being placed in the 151-200 range globally and in the 1-3 range in Poland. The following subjects were also ranked high:

Food Science & Technology, Metallurgical Engineering, Telecommunication Engineering, Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering and Chemical Engineering.

ShanghaiRanking’s Global Ranking of Academic Subjects (GRAS) ranks institutions in 57 subjects across Natural Sciences, Engineering, Life Sciences, Medical Sciences, and Social Sciences. In 2025, approximately 2,000 universities from 92 countries and regions were classified in the subject ranking.

The ranking employs several indicators when assessing the performance of universities, including the number of journal publications (Q1) and the number of citations received by these papers within a given subject (CNCI), International Collaborated Papers (IC), the number of Top Journal Papers (Top), and the number of staff winning International Academic Awards (Award).
