Gdańsk Tech included in THE World University Rankings by Subject 2026
For another year in a row, the Gdańsk University of Technology has been ranked in five areas of THE World University Rankings by Subject. The university maintained its previous positions in four fields, while in Physical Sciences it moved up from the 801–1000 band to 601–800th.
Economics, Physical Sciences and Life Sciences rankings, and 801-1000th in the Computer Science ranking.
Compared to other Polish universities, Gdańsk Tech ranked as follows:
- Engineering: 1-2nd
- Physical Sciences: 2-4th
- Life Sciences: 3-5th
- Business and Economics: 3-6th
- Computer Science: 5-11th
These results confirm the Gdańsk University of Technology's stable position in international rankings and its academic and research potential.
THE subject rankings use the same indicators as the main ranking, but their weightings differ depending on the field being assessed in order to better reflect its specific characteristics. Academic performance is evaluated across five pillars:
- Teaching: educational environment,
- Research environment: research potential, funding and reputation,
- Research quality: research quality, influence and excellence
- International outlook: internationalisation of staff, students and research
- Industry: income from industry partnerships and patents.
Each of the ranking areas covers several disciplines:
- Business and Economics: Economics and Econometrics, Accounting and Finance, Business and Management
- Computer Science: Computing, Digital Technologies
- Engineering: General Engineering, Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering, Civil Engineering, Chemical Engineering
- Life Sciences: Veterinary Science, Biological Sciences, Agriculture and Forestry, Sport Science
- Physical Sciences: Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Statistics, Astronomy, Geology, Environmental, Earth and Marine Sciences
