Why is it worthwhile to implement with the support of the university? How to talk about research in the language of benefits? How to build a market advantage and effectively protect intellectual property? We sought answers to these and many other questions during the event titled 𝗦𝗰𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗜𝗻𝗱𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗿𝘆, organized by the PG Biznes Hub Team at Gdańsk Tech.

The meeting was primarily aimed at young researchers, PhD candidates, and students who want to develop their projects towards implementation and build cooperation with industry.

Exceptional and inspiring speakers shared diverse experiences in building science-industry collaboration with us: PhD Eng. habil. Sebastian Molin (Faculty of Electronics, Telecommunications and Informatics), PhD Eng. Marcin Szczepański (Faculty of Civil and Environmental Engineering), PhD Eng. arch. Jan Cudzik (Faculty of Architecture) and PhD Eng. Paulina Parcheta-Szwindowska (Faculty of Chemistry). All of them are very active, combining scientific careers with implementation paths.

During the presentations, it was emphasized that particularly important for a Researcher on the implementation path are:research curiosity, proactive attitude, promotion of one’s own activities through various communication channels, searching for effective and business-comprehensible language of science communication.

An important part of the event was a speech by Vice-Rector for Education PhD Eng. habil. Mariusz Kaczmarek, university professor who presented how the University supports cooperation with industry. The message conveyed was:️implementation activities can be an integral part of a scientific career,️ the university develops tools and structures supporting commercialization, ️Gdańsk Tech actively builds an ecosystem connecting science with business (also through the activities of PG Biznes Hub).

Patent Attorney PhD Justyna Pawłowska-Bajerska presented case studies, emphasizing the important role that intellectual property protection plays in the implementation process. Key is the effective safeguarding of IP already at the very beginning of technology development, which ensures a simpler formal path at subsequent stages of discussions about business potential.

We concluded the meeting with workshops conducted by Marcin Stolarek from the PG BH team. Drawing on extensive experience in supporting the science commercialization process, he shared tips with participants on creating high-quality technology offers.

The event was hosted by Aleksandra Kocińska.
