The Gdańsk Tech Business Hub delegation met with the Rector and representatives of the Maritime University of Szczecin to discuss opportunities for cooperation in the field of marine technologies, critical infrastructure security of the Baltic Sea, and the development of unmanned systems.
During the meeting held on June 16, 2026, in Szczecin, Gdańsk Tech was represented by Paweł Lulewicz, General Director of PG Biznes Hub, Marcin Zieliński, and Artur Rorzkowski from the PG Biznes Hub team. From the Szczecin Maritime University, the attendees were: Rector Prof. DSc PhD Eng. Capt. Wojciech Ślączka, Prof. PM, PhD Eng. Electro-automation officer Maciej Kozak, Prof. PM Dean of the Faculty of Mechatronics and Electrical Engineering PM, Prof. DSc PhD Eng. Mirosław Pajor – Head of the Department of Robotics and Control at the Faculty of Mechatronics and Electrical Engineering PM, PhD Eng. Karol Miądlicki from the Department of Robotics and Control at the Faculty of Mechatronics and Electrical Engineering PM, and Tomasz Kapuściński, Director of CEOP.
The PG Biznes Hub delegation presented the activities of the unit and discussed directions in which the scientific and technological potential of Gdańsk Tech could support the development of innovative solutions for the maritime sector. One of the main topics of discussion was the prototype of the underwater ROV Pirania vehicle, developed as a modular dual-use platform by Gdańsk Tech in cooperation with RADMOR S.A.
The visit to Szczecin also provided an opportunity for further tests of the ROV Pirania vehicle. The demonstrations, which took place on the second day of the visit, were attended by representatives from the Department of Search and Identification of Persons of the Provincial Police Headquarters in Szczecin, the Water Volunteer Rescue Service, the Port of Szczecin-Świnoujście, and Szczecin Maritime University, as well as representatives of the Deepwater Technology Laboratory of Gdańsk Tech and the company Radmor S.A.
ROV Pirania was designed with the monitoring of underwater critical infrastructure in mind, but the tests also demonstrated its potential in search, rescue, and reconnaissance operations. The vehicle can support services in identifying objects underwater, reducing the need to immediately involve divers in difficult or dangerous conditions such as limited visibility, strong currents, or unknown seabed structures.
The meeting confirmed that the effective development of technologies for the security of the Baltic Sea requires cooperation among the scientific community, industrial partners, and institutions responsible for public safety and the protection of critical infrastructure. The combination of expertise from Gdańsk Tech and Szczecin Maritime University creates real opportunities for conducting joint research and development projects responding to current challenges in the maritime sector.
As a result of fruitful and promising talks on establishing project cooperation between the two universities, it was decided that the next meeting would take place at the operational level, involving engineering teams.
