Young Scientists of Gdańsk Tech Awarded by the President of the City of Gdańsk and GTN
PhD Eng. Olga Ciupak and PhD Krzysztof Łuksza received the 2025 awards from the President of the City of Gdańsk and the Gdańsk Scientific Society for young researchers for outstanding scientific achievements. The diplomas were presented at Gdańsk Tech during the GTN General Assembly. The event was preceded by a GTN and Gdańsk Tech seminar dedicated to artificial intelligence in scientific research, business, medicine, and architecture.

The diplomas were presented at Gdańsk Tech during the GTN General Assembly. The event was preceded by a GTN and Gdańsk Tech seminar dedicated to artificial intelligence in scientific research, business, medicine, and architecture.
The President of Gdańsk and GTN annually award five equal prizes to scientific employees under the age of 35 for outstanding scientific achievements in fields corresponding to the individual faculties of GTN. This year, however, only four prizes were awarded, and their ceremonial presentation took place on May 28 at the Heweliusz Courtyard in the Main Building of Gdańsk Tech.
The laureates from Gdańsk Tech were:
- PhD Eng. Olga Ciupak from the Department of Inorganic Chemistry at the Faculty of Chemistry for her doctoral dissertation "Structural Analogues and Conjugates of Folic Acid as New Inhibitors of Steroid Sulfatase (STS)" (Faculty III of Mathematical-Physical-Chemical Sciences)
- PhD Eng. Krzysztof Łuksza from the Department of Automation of Electric Drives and Energy Conversion at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Automation for his doctoral dissertation "Sensorless Multiscalar Control of a 5-phase Interior Permanent Magnet Synchronous Machine with Constant Mutual Flux"
Prizes were also awarded to PhD Mateusz Rutkowski from the University of Gdańsk (Faculty I of Social Sciences and Humanities) and PhD Jakub Żółkiewicz from the Medical University of Gdańsk (Faculty II of Biological and Medical Sciences).
Seminar with the Participation of Scientists and Gdańsk Tech Alumni
Earlier, a seminar was held with the main theme of artificial intelligence in scientific research, business, medicine, and architecture.

Understanding, Teaching, Technological Sovereignty"), PhD hab. Eng. arch. Jan Cudzik, professor at Gdańsk Tech, Faculty of Architecture ("Artificial Intelligence in Architecture and Scientific Research – Experiences from Combining Design Practice and Research Work"), PhD hab. Marcin Gruszecki, professor at Medical University of Gdańsk ("Artificial Intelligence in Medicine: Analysis of Respiratory Processes and Support for Clinical Diagnostics"), PhD hab. Hanna Makurat-Snuzik, professor at University of Gdańsk ("Ethical Development and Use of Artificial Intelligence Technologies within Scientific Research"), and PhD hab. Eng. Piotr Szczuko, professor at Gdańsk Tech, Faculty of Electronics, Telecommunications and Informatics ("Trends in Research and Development of Autonomous Artificial Intelligence").
The event was organized in cooperation with the Center for Student and PhD Student Activities at the University of Gdańsk and the Gdańsk Society of Friends of Art, and took place on May 28 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Heweliusz Courtyard in the Main Building.
