Prof. Waldemar Magda from the Faculty of Civil and Environmental Engineering received the prestigious Sir Mokshagundam Visvesvaraya Prize for the scientific article titled “Breaker depth index of a wave breaking at a coastal structure – the modified Weggel's nomogram revisited.” The awarded paper was published in the journal Maritime Engineering, issued by the British Emerald Publishing Limited.

The Sir Mokshagundam Visvesvaraya Prize is awarded for the best scientific articles published in the Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE, UK) journals by authors from outside the British Isles, as well as for the best engineering projects carried out outside the British Isles. The editorial panels of individual journals nominate the best articles, and the awards are decided by the Institution of Civil Engineers Awards Committee. This year, the committee was chaired by former ICE president, Prof. Tim Broyd from University College London.

In this year’s edition, over 5,200 scientific articles were evaluated. The award was presented to Prof. Waldemar Magda by ICE president, David Porter, during the ICE Publishing Awards gala organized by the Institution of Civil Engineers – the oldest engineering institution in the world.
