Congress 'Science beyond divisions' | Gdańsk University of Technology

The "Science beyond divisions" congress took place on September 12-13, 2024 at Gdańsk University of Technology.

During the first day of the Congress, experts from all over Poland debated the current state of higher education. The following topics were discussed during the panels:

• How to measure scientific success? On the evaluation of a scientist's work.
• Academic (in)dependence – or hierarchy and its effects.
• Does cooperation pay off? Or whether, given the current legal solution and social pressure, it is worth cooperating?
• Do Polish universities educate effectively? The Polish idea for success (or failure...).

During the second day, participants could take part in one of three workshops:

• Replacement of generations at universities.
• The role of young people in shaping universities.
• Are the possibilities of universities able to satisfy the hunger of the young generation?

The event was initiated by young scientists from Gdańsk University of Technology and implemented with IDUB funds.
