Guaranteed scholarship
Doctoral training at the Doctoral School is free of charge. PhD students who do not already hold a doctoral degree receive a doctoral scholarship, subject to statutory exceptions. The scholarship is paid for a total of up to four years, and its basic amount increases after a positive mid-term evaluation.
First year, before the mid-term evaluation: PLN 3,807.67 gross per month, including the Gdańsk Tech supplement.
Third year, after a positive mid-term evaluation: PLN 5,865.87 gross per month, including the Gdańsk Tech supplement.
Disability supplement: an additional PLN 1,071.15 gross per month.
Research facilities and funding
Your supervisor commits to providing you with a workspace, funding for materials and conference participation, and access to research equipment where required. While working on your dissertation, you may also benefit from additional support offered by Gdańsk Tech, including programmes under the Excellence Initiative – Research University (IDUB), as well as programmes run by other institutions.

Your doctoral scholarship and the funding provided by your supervisor are your main sources of financial support. Research activities, publications and participation in academic events may open up further funding opportunities.Additional scholarship
This scholarship may be awarded for outstanding achievements in research or education, or for contributions to the University. It is paid either as a lump sum or over a specified period, with the amount determined individually.
Bonuses for achievements
Research contributing to your doctoral dissertation may qualify for additional financial rewards. The basic bonus for an international patent is currently PLN 5,000. Bonuses for eligible publications may be increased by PLN 500 or PLN 1,500, depending on the applicable criteria.
Funding for event participation
Funding provided by your supervisor may be supplemented by support from the Gdańsk Tech Doctoral Students’ Self-government. Previous funding rounds offered up to PLN 750 for participation in a domestic event and up to PLN 2,500 for participation in an international event.
