Gdańsk Tech, together with the University of Gdańsk and the Medical University of Gdańsk, has signed an agreement on cooperation with the Pomeranian Special Economic Zone involving leading academic Technology Transfer Centers. Under the document signed during the 33rd National SOOIPP Conference, the Gdańsk Science and Technology Park along with the Fahrenheit Universities will offer comprehensive solutions to facilitate the implementation of research and development projects.

The signatories of the agreement declare their intention to undertake joint actions in the broadly understood commercialization of scientific research results, involving supporting and stimulating innovative entrepreneurship and creating effective links between science and business through disseminating knowledge about technology transfer.

The services will be directed primarily at companies interested in creating a new product, conducting research and development work, creating prototypes, or seeking solutions to technological problems. The cooperation will involve, among other things, improving technology transfer and commercialization, increasing the efficiency of links between science and economic activity, supporting activities promoting acceleration and incubation programs for start-ups, and exchanging best practices and experience, including in the implementation of EU projects.

– Close cooperation with the best universities in the Pomeranian Voivodeship is one of the priorities of the Gdańsk Science and Technology Park managed by the Pomeranian Special Economic Zone. We hope that the initiated joint actions will enable achieving significant mutual benefits in the future, and the projects carried out will be a starting point for long-term and strategic cooperation – emphasizes Przemysław Sztandera, President of the Pomeranian Special Economic Zone.

– We want zone and park enterprises to develop their business through technology transfer. We want the best ideas to be created and remain in Pomerania, and academic spin-offs to locate their activities within the innovation ecosystem created by the Pomeranian Special Economic Zone, because the synergy of science and business is the foundation of the economic development of our region and country – adds Radosław Wika, Director of DPNT, PSSE.

The universities were represented by the directors of the Technology Transfer Centers.

Interested entrepreneurs will be presented with opportunities to develop their company's potential through technology transfer and the current research offer of scientific units. Additionally, available sources and financing mechanisms will be proposed. The innovation broker will advise where professional support can be obtained, initiate cooperation with the appropriate research unit, and arrange the first meeting tailored to the individual needs of the entrepreneur.
