The PG Biznes Hub team met with the rector and representatives of the Maritime University of Szczecin to discuss potential cooperation in the field of marine technologies, critical infrastructure security of the Baltic Sea, and the development of unmanned systems.
During the meeting held on June 16, 2026, in Szczecin, Gdańsk Tech was represented by: Paweł Lulewicz, General Director of PG Biznes Hub, Marcin Zieliński, and Artur Rorzkowski from the PG Biznes Hub team. On behalf of the Maritime University of Szczecin, attendees included: Rector Magnificus PhD DSc Eng. Capt. (Coast Guard) Wojciech Ślączka, Prof. MU, PhD Eng. Marine Electrical Automation Officer Maciej Kozak, Prof. MU, Dean of the Faculty of Mechatronics and Electrical Engineering at MU, Prof. PhD DSc Eng. Mirosław Pajor, Head of the Department of Robotics and Control at the Faculty of Mechatronics and Electrical Engineering at MU, PhD Eng. Karol Miądlicki from the Department of Robotics and Control at the Faculty of Mechatronics and Electrical Engineering at MU, as well as Tomasz Kapuściński, Director of CEOP.
Technologies for the Safety of the Baltic Sea
The PG Biznes Hub delegation presented the unit’s activities and discussed the areas in which the scientific and technological potential of Gdańsk Tech can support the development of innovative solutions for the maritime sector. One of the main topics of discussion was the prototype of the ROV Pirania underwater vehicle, a modular dual-use platform developed by Gdańsk Tech in cooperation with RADMOR S.A.
The visit to Szczecin was also an opportunity for further tests of the ROV Pirania vehicle. During the demonstrations on the second day of the visit, participants included representatives of the Search and Identification Department of the Regional Police Headquarters in Szczecin, the Water Volunteer Rescue Service, the Port of Szczecin-Świnoujście, the Maritime University of Szczecin, as well as representatives from Gdańsk Tech’s Deepwater Technology Laboratory and RADMOR S.A.
The ROV Pirania was designed with underwater critical infrastructure monitoring in mind; however, the tests also demonstrated its potential in search, rescue, and reconnaissance operations. The vehicle can support services in identifying underwater objects, reducing the need to immediately deploy divers in difficult or hazardous conditions such as limited visibility, strong currents, or unknown seabed structures.
The meeting confirmed that the effective development of technologies for the safety of the Baltic Sea requires collaboration between the scientific community, industrial partners, and institutions responsible for public safety and the protection of critical infrastructure. The combination of expertise from Gdańsk Tech and the Maritime University of Szczecin creates real opportunities for implementing joint research and development projects addressing current challenges in the maritime sector.
As a result of the discussions on establishing project cooperation between the two universities, it was decided that the next meeting will take place at the operational level with the participation of engineering teams.
