Gdańsk Tech and the Pomeranian Voivodeship Office will cooperate on testing the CAISE platform
The use of artificial intelligence and OCR technology (optical character recognition) to improve document analysis, digitization of documentation, and support administrative processes is the subject of a pilot cooperation between Gdańsk Tech and the Pomeranian Voivodeship Office. An agreement on this matter was signed on June 17, 2026, in Gdańsk.
The purpose of the cooperation is to verify how tools based on OCR and AI technologies can support the implementation of public tasks, particularly in the area of document analysis, documentation digitization, and streamlining administrative processes.
The CAISE platform, developed by Gdańsk Tech, is intended to support the creation of applications serving the digitization of public administration. Its aim is to accelerate work on IT solutions, reduce repetitive tasks performed when building applications from scratch, and lower the costs of implementing new digital services.
Employees of the Pomeranian Voivodeship Office will participate in testing selected functionalities of the platform. The work will include, among others, assessing the effectiveness and quality of CAISE's operations, identifying any functional limitations, submitting proposals for further development of the platform, and analyzing the possibilities of its use in the ongoing activities of public administration. Initial cooperation has already begun, and scientists and officials are jointly developing new functionalities on the platform that will be able to accelerate work, among others, in issuing administrative decisions.
A particular pilot area will be testing the use of AI and OCR tools to support processes related to the analysis of applications for relief in the repayment of undue benefits, identification of formal deficiencies, digitization of documentation, and improving the organization of work and document flow.
– I am very grateful that Gdańsk Tech decided to cooperate with our office – emphasized Beata Rutkiewicz, Pomeranian Voivode. – I am very committed to automating processes and supporting officials in their work. We were looking for ideas and IT solutions so that certain repetitive and tedious tasks currently performed by humans can be automated. Gdańsk Tech comes forward with solutions and openness to our needs.
Joint actions with the Pomeranian Voivodeship Office will allow scientists from CI TASK to verify the operation of the CAISE platform in conditions close to the actual needs of public administration. The results of the tests, reports, and comments provided as part of the pilot will be used in further research and development work on the platform.
– Faster data processing and its precise analysis in a secure environment, independent of large foreign corporations – this is the strength of the CAISE platform, and I hope that the Voivodeship Office will not only benefit from this but will also jointly create solutions with our scientists that will serve other public administration institutions as well – noted Prof. Krzysztof Wilde, Rector of Gdańsk Tech.
At the testing stage, the parties assume the use of test data, anonymized or pseudonymized. Any use of actual data will require separate arrangements and compliance with requirements resulting from legal regulations, in particular concerning personal data protection and information security.
The agreement aligns with Gdańsk Tech’s efforts to develop modern technologies supporting the digitization of the public sector and building practical applications of artificial intelligence in administration.
