Gdańsk Tech among the best universities in Poland in the Perspektywy ranking
The Perspektywy Education Foundation has published the latest edition of its annual ranking of the best universities in Poland. The ranking shows the standing of academic universities, technical universities and individual degree programmes, and its results are one of the tools used by prospective students when comparing what different higher education institutions have to offer.
A stable position among Poland’s leading universities
In the latest edition of the ranking, Gdańsk Tech remains both in the top five academic universities in Poland and on the podium among technical universities. This result confirms the university’s stable position amongst Poland’s leading institutions.
“We regard maintaining a high position in the Perspektywy University Ranking as confirmation that the Gdańsk University of Technology remains among the best universities in Poland. For a technical university, stability does not mean standing still. It means a well-chosen course, consistency in improving the quality of education and research, and the ability to respond to challenges that are important for the economy, society and the future of the region,” said Prof. Krzysztof Wilde, Rector of the Gdańsk University of Technology.
Gdańsk Tech’s strengths in the ranking
The Gdańsk University of Technology’s high ranking is also confirmed by its results in individual criteria groups. Gdańsk Tech came second in Poland in the academic potential category, behind only the University of Warsaw and ahead of the Jagiellonian University. The university also ranked joint fourth in the academic effectiveness category, being the only technical university in the top five of this ranking. Gdańsk Tech was also among the leaders in the funds, innovation, prestige and graduates on the labour market categories.
Highly rated degree programmes at Gdańsk Tech
The Gdańsk University of Technology also achieved high rankings in the Perspektywy Ranking By Subject. Architecture and Environmental Engineering were ranked first, whilst Spatial Management ranked joint first.

· Management and Production Engineering, joint 3rd position.
The top five also included: Chemistry, Power Engineering, Technical Physics, Mechanical Engineering, AI & Data Science, Automation and Robotics, Economy, Electronics and Telecommunication, Electrical Engineering, IT Studies, Biomedical Engineering, Material Engineering, Transport and Management.
“Our university is deeply rooted in Gdańsk, Pomerania and the Baltic region, whilst at the same time establishing an increasingly prominent presence in the national and international academic spheres. This is thanks to the entire academic community of the Gdańsk University of Technology, in particular the staff, students and PhD candidates, who work every day to build the strength and credibility of our university,” added the Rector.
A ranking based on seven criteria
The Perspektywy Academic Schools Ranking 2026 presents public and private academic institutions that have a right to award doctoral degrees in at least one academic discipline, have at least 300 full-time students and have produced at least two cohorts of graduates.
The university’s final score is calculated based on indicators grouped into seven criteria:
· Research effectiveness, 30%,
· Internationalisation, 15%,
· Research potential, 13%,
· Prestige, 12%,
· Employability, 12%,
· Teaching, 10%,
· Innovation, 8%
This methodology enables universities to be assessed in a multidimensional way, covering not only the quality of research and teaching, but also the situation of graduates, relations with the socio-economic environment, and the international nature of their activities.
Important information for applicants
The results of the Perspektywy ranking are particularly important during the university admissions process, helping applicants to compare universities, degree programmes and opportunities for development.
