What is created at the intersection of architecture, business, and the real needs of the city? How can the knowledge and potential of Gdańsk Tech be translated into specific projects, cooperation, and implementations? We will seek answers to these questions during the first edition of the event "Architecture in Action – Science, City, Investments," which will take place on October 26, 2026, at Gdańsk Tech.

The Faculty of Architecture at Gdańsk Tech opens a space for dialogue between the academic community, businesses, and representatives of the socio-economic environment. The event aims to demonstrate that architecture is not only about designing spaces but also encompasses knowledge, research, and solutions that can address specific challenges faced by the city, investors, and end users.

“What happens when architecture meets business, local government, city, and region? This is precisely the focus of our new event – Architecture in Action. We want to show how the knowledge, research, and solutions developed at the Faculty of Architecture can respond to real investment, planning, and research challenges. We are interested in a dialogue that moves forward – from ideas and knowledge to concrete action.” — Prof. Jakub Szczepański, DSc, Dean of the Faculty of Architecture at Gdańsk Tech

During the meeting, the potential of the Faculty of Architecture at Gdańsk Tech and opportunities for collaboration with its experts will be presented. An important element of the event will be a discussion on how to combine design, research, and technological competencies with market needs, and how to create solutions that can have a real impact on the city’s development and the quality of space.

The event is co-organized by PG Biznes Hub, whose role is to actively support the collaboration between Gdańsk Tech and the socio-economic environment.

“Why did we get involved in organizing Architecture in Action? We want to support and promote the diverse competencies and interdisciplinary potential of the Faculty of Architecture. We see how crucial it is to raise awareness among entrepreneurs and regional institutions about the actual services that the Faculty staff can provide. The event is a great opportunity to establish new business relationships and inspire the implementation of new projects and initiatives, using funding possibilities from the Development Incubator project.” — Paweł Lulewicz, General Director of PG Biznes Hub

“Architecture in Action” will be a space where knowledge meets practice, and the presented implementations inspire further collaboration opportunities. The event is aimed at business representatives, investors, local government, public institutions, industry organizations, and anyone interested in cooperation at the intersection of architecture, science, and practice.

Framework Agenda

How does knowledge created at the university reach investments, the city, and the everyday life of its residents? “Architecture in Action” is a new event by the Faculty of Architecture at Gdańsk Tech, co-organized with PG Biznes Hub. It connects the academic community, business, investors, and local government around one question: how to transform research into concrete projects, collaborations, and implementations.

The meeting will begin at 11:00. Until 1:30 PM, the program will intersperse several complementary formats, and afterwards, we invite you for networking.

Tandem Conversations. Short paired talks: a Faculty scientist and a partner implementing their solutions in practice. On the microphone, researchers will meet representatives from the Port of Gdańsk Authority S.A., the Basilica of the Dominicans dedicated to St. Nicholas in Gdańsk, and NDI Group. Each pair will showcase a different dimension of the meeting between science and the reality of the city: from port spaces through heritage and place memory to the real estate market and quality of space as an investment value.

Panel Discussion. New technologies in architecture: from the laboratory to commercialization. A conversation about how drones, digital twins, 3D printing, and other tools developed in the Faculty’s laboratories translate into commercial implementations. Alongside the Faculty’s researchers, institutions and companies already using these solutions, including the World War II Museum in Gdańsk, will participate in the discussion.

The Voice of Cities. Presentations by local government and city institution representatives about what cities need from science and what they can offer in return, from everyday development challenges to great ambitions such as the effort to be included on the UNESCO list.

Development Incubator. Presentation of the Science4Business – Science for Business program, which helps transform scientists’ ideas into commercially viable solutions.

Networking. At the end, time for informal conversations: establishing contacts, exchanging ideas, and starting new collaborations.
