Gdansk Tech's promotion in the 20th anniversary edition of THE World University Rankings 2024
The Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2024 covered 1,904 universities from 108 countries. A further 769 universities were not ranked but were given 'reporter' status, meaning that they provided data but did not meet the ranking's eligibility criteria.
This year's ranking is based on the new WUR 3.0 methodology, which includes 18 carefully calibrated indicators grouped into five areas:
- Teaching (the learning environment) - 29,5%
- Research environment (volume, income and reputation) – 29%;
- Research quality (citation impact, research strength, research excellence and research influence) - 30%
- International outlook (staff, students and research) - 7,5%;
- Industry (income and patents) – 4%
In the latest edition of the ranking, Gdańsk University of Technology was promoted to a position in the 1001-1200 range, from a position of 1201-1500, thus placing 5th (ex aequo with 9 other Polish universities) out of 37 Polish universities ranked in the ranking.
Our University significantly improved its total score from 18.4-24.3 (in 2023) to 28.3-32.6 in this year's edition of the ranking. This is the largest recorded year-on-year increase in Gdańsk Tech's cumulative score in the history of this ranking.
