Creating new research groups, employing foreign scientists, research trips, purchasing specialized research equipment and laboratory instruments are just some of the opportunities offered by the new programs, which are part of the implementation by the university of the tasks arising from the "Excellence Initiative - Research University" program.

Americium, Einsteinium, Nobelium, Platinum, Plutonium and Technetium – are the names of the recently announced programs. They provide support, among others, for researchers in obtaining prestigious international grants, enable funding of publication activities, cover the costs of ongoing scientific research, and foster the development of young scientists in areas aligned with the activities of the centers for priority research areas.

New research groups

Within the Platinum Establishing Top-Class Research Teams program, it is possible to obtain a grant dedicated to financing the establishment and initial activities of a new research group.

An application for a grant in the Platinum Program may be submitted by the Nobelium program beneficiary, as defined in the program regulations, within a maximum of six months from the start of employment at Gdańsk Tech. The planned project budget under this grant must not exceed PLN 5 million gross, with a maximum project duration of 24 months.

Hiring qualified specialists

The goal of the Nobelium Joining Gdansk Tech Research Community program is to increase and enrich the scientific potential of Gdańsk Tech (hereinafter GT) by recruiting highly qualified specialists who will conduct research in thematic areas of the Priority Research Areas Centers. These specialists will support existing research groups within the Centers or establish new research teams. A Nobelium program beneficiary who forms a research group at Gdańsk Tech as indicated in the regulations may also obtain additional funding in the form of an institutional grant under the Platinum Establishing Top-Class Research Teams program.

Knowledge transfer

The Einsteinium Short-Term Incoming Visits program enables the transfer of knowledge from renowned foreign scientists visiting Gdańsk Tech to the research teams of the university. These visits should also lead to the initiation or development of long-term research collaboration between the visiting scientist and the Gdańsk Tech team beyond the visit period. Under this program, financing is available for: short-term visits lasting from 1 week up to 2 months of renowned foreign scientists at Gdańsk Tech, as well as the costs of a three-month stay abroad of a scientist who is a member of a research team whose formation is funded by the Aurum Supporting International Research Team Building program.

Development of student science clubs

Supporting the activities of student Science Clubs, which are a natural environment for selecting leaders of research groups, organizational leaders, and initiators of new research areas, is the main objective of the Plutonium Supporting Student Research Teams program. An application for funding under the Plutonium Program may be submitted by the supervisor of a student Science Club (a student Science Club referred to in section 2 must have actively operated for at least one academic year prior to the contest announcement date). The Science Club may apply for a maximum total amount of PLN 300,000 across five consecutive calls.

Mentoring

Technetium Talent Management Grants is a program supporting the activity of mentors—academic teachers supervising exceptionally talented students engaged in research activities within the Priority Research Areas Centers topics. The grant amount in the program is PLN 25,000 (twenty-five thousand zlotys), with a project duration of 12 months. Applications are accepted on a continuous basis.

International internships

The Americium International Career Development program finances the costs of long-term (from 4 to 12 months) internships of Gdańsk Tech scientists at internationally renowned foreign research centers. The expected outcome of such stays is to establish research cooperation between the research group to which the participating scientist belongs and the foreign research group. Applications for this program are accepted on a continuous basis.
