The last of three prototype workshops – Protolab II – has been made available to users. This comprehensively equipped technical workshop is located in the Gdańsk Science and Technology Park. Students, graduates, participants of the e-Pionier project, and academic staff of Gdańsk Tech can use the workshop free of charge.

ProtoLab II is part of the Space4makers initiative at GPNT, where a 400 m² prototyping space dedicated to startups, innovative enterprises, and inventors has been created. The workshop is equipped with large-scale woodworking and metalworking machines, such as a CNC plotter, a lathe-milling machine, and a manual press. Users also have access to a 3D printing station and a range of power tools.

Access to ProtoLab II is available, as in other prototyping labs, 24/7 after prior registration and receiving an access card.

The space and its equipment complement the other two ProtoLabs, providing the possibility to develop and manufacture any prototype.

The laboratory was established as part of the “e-Pionier II – Support for Investors in the ICT Sector as an Opportunity to Develop the Potential of Talented Programmers” project, implemented by the Gdańsk Tech special-purpose company Excento.

More information about the rules for using the space can be found on the ProtoLab website.

It is worth recalling that in mid-January ProtoLab III was opened – a space equipped with high-class prototyping equipment for Gdańsk Tech students and academic staff, created in cooperation between the Gdańsk Tech special-purpose company Excento and the Faculty of Electronics, Telecommunications and Informatics. The laboratory will host initiatives in areas including space technologies and augmented reality (VR) technologies.

The first ProtoLab was established in 2018 in the Gdańsk Tech Technical Support Center building [no. 65 on the campus map] and was also the first 24/7 prototyping lab in the Pomerania region. The laboratory offers the possibility to test solutions in the information and communication technologies (ICT) sector. The prototyping lab is equipped with various devices, including oscilloscopes, generators, load meters, and software. There are also soldering stations, tools, and 3D printers.

GPNT has published a video showing ProtoLab II in the Space4Makers area.
