Research activity can be both an inspiring challenge and a path to the practical implementation of new solutions. Such activities are supported, among others, by the “Industrial Doctorate” program. It is available to individuals employed in various economic sectors who want to develop and implement solutions related to their employer's operations.

Example areas of innovation application

Green ICT

Solutions supporting more environmentally friendly economic growth, used, among others, in manufacturing, energy, transportation, and construction. These include, for example, smart energy grids, intelligent heating and lighting systems, and tools supporting sustainable consumption and an ecological lifestyle.

Green innovations in biotechnology and nanotechnology

Solutions supporting the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions and decreasing dependence on fossil fuels. They may concern, among others, biofuels, bio-based materials, wastewater and water purification, heavy metal removal, and carbon sequestration.

Innovative scientific activity in three steps

Besides the “Industrial Doctorate” program, the development of scientific-entrepreneurial initiatives can also proceed according to another model:

Research activity – leading to the creation of new knowledge, product, technology, or method that addresses real economic and social needs.
Legal protection – including, for example, patents, licenses, or know-how.
Commercialization of research results – i.e., implementing solutions, for example, through cooperation between science and business.

Literature Databases

Scientific practice is based, among other things, on a review of the available scientific literature in the area of research interest, serving as a critical discussion of the information published so far in a given field of science and constructing significant conclusions for conducting one's own research. Literature databases integrate renowned scientific publishers with established procedures for peer review and publication of works.

Scientific achievements of university staff

Information about the published scientific results of Gdańsk Tech employees is presented in the MOST Wiedzy (Multidisciplinary Open Knowledge Transfer System) repository, which also collects data on ongoing research and implemented projects. The platform enhances the accessibility, consistency, and reusability of scientific resources, knowledge, and technology.

Dissemination of Scientific Achievements

MOST Wiedzy promotes the published scientific results of Gdańsk Tech employees, including the possibility to popularize full texts of publications and make them available under a Creative Commons license (which constitutes the implementation of the green Open Access model). Posting an article in the repository facilitates its indexing process in internet search engines, including Google Scholar, which is significant for its visibility in online resources, thus increasing its citation potential. MOST Wiedzy is therefore a platform for exchanging information between the scientific community and entrepreneurs. University researchers have their own scientific profiles in the system, which clearly present their publications, achievements, and research projects in which they participate.
