The second Young Researchers Day, under the auspices of the Rector of Gdańsk Tech prof. Krzysztof Wilde, which is part of the celebration of the 120th anniversary of Gdańsk University of Technology, will take place on June 27, 2024.
This time the event - in a summer formula and called "Young Researchers Picnic. Science reaching for the stars" - will gather employees and PhD students around the topic of astronomy, and after the lecture and discussions that will take place at the Nanotechnology Center A in room 3/11, it will move to the bosom of nature to support integration and (unofficial) networking.
On the schedule:
9:00-9:15 – welcome of participants – prof. Dariusz Mikielewicz, vice-rector for organization and development of Gdańsk Tech.
9:15-10:45 - lecture "From Apollo to Artemis" by Przemysław Mieszko Rudź - popularizer of astronomy, author of books and guides, who in 2016-2023 was an expert of the Polish Space Agency responsible for space education, media contacts, information and promotion .
What will the lecture be about? In 2024, it will be 55 years since the first landing of man on the Moon as part of the Apollo program. This great achievement of humanity has its modern continuation - the Artemis program. The lecture "From Apollo to Artemis" will discuss the circumstances of winning the Silver Globe and plans for its 21st century colonization, emphasizing Polish threads.
10:45-11:00 – presentaion of the experimental project of the Scientific Club SimLE, taking part in the international program REXUS/BEXUS (Rocket and Balloon Experiment for Univeristy Students)
11:00-11:30 – discussion panel – prof. Dariusz Mikielewicz, Vice-Rector for Organization and Development and representatives of young researchers
11:30-13:30 - picnic - after the official part, we invite all participants to the green area behind the above-ground parking lot at the Nanotechnology Center A, where in a relaxed atmosphere, over sausages and drinks, there will be an opportunity to get to know each other and exchange experiences.
