Project sustainability is checked after the project is completed. However, it should be kept in mind at the beginning of investment planning. Why? Because sustainability tells whether the implemented project made sense. Keep in mind that European funds are public funds. Therefore, the effect of their use should be of high quality and last for a certain period of time.
Project sustainability period
For how long do you have to maintain the effect of the project? The period of sustainability varies depending on:
- the type of beneficiary,
- the scope of the project.
In the case of productive investments and infrastructure, it is 5 years. However, when the project was implemented by a company and there was a requirement to maintain the investment, the sustainability period is 3 years.
If the regulations governing the granting of public aid introduce other requirements in this regard, then a different period of durability applies. It is determined in accordance with the regulations for granting public aid.
