Revised Academic Staff Recruitment Policy from December 2024

3
Effective December 1, 2024, Gdańsk University of Technology (GUT) will implement a new Academic Staff Recruitment Policy, based on open, transparent, and merit-based recruitment principles, known as the OTM-R Policy (Open, Transparent, and Merit-based Recruitment of Researchers Policy, OTM-R Policy). This policy was introduced by Rector’s Directive No. 41/2024.

The aim of the OTM-R Policy is to provide equal opportunities, fair treatment, and equal access to all candidates, both domestic and international, applying for academic positions at Gdańsk University of Technology.

The OTM-R Policy aligns with the principles set forth in the “European Charter for Researchers” and is part of the implementation of GUT's HR4R Strategy (Human Resources Strategy for Researchers, Gdańsk Tech HRS4R). This policy introduces several changes for the university as an employer, including the obligation to inform candidates about the subsequent stages of the recruitment process and to provide feedback to those who are not selected after interviews. Additionally, it imposes specific requirements on selection committees, such as minimizing administrative barriers and meeting specific personnel composition criteria.

This document was created through the active collaboration of the HR Center with the Office of Young Researchers and the Legal Advisers Department, with contributions from the Young Researchers Team.

To assist faculties and centers in implementing the principles of the OTM-R Policy, information sessions will be organized soon.
