Scholarships of the Minister of Science for outstanding Young Researchers
From December 1 to December 31, 2024, applications may be submitted for the scholarship for outstanding young scientists who demonstrate significant achievements in scientific activities. The Minister’s scholarship for outstanding young researchers may be awarded to a young researchers exhibiting significant accomplishments in scientific work.
A young researchers is an individual conducting scientific activities who:
- is a doctoral candidate or an academic teacher and does not hold a doctoral degree, or
- is preparing a doctoral dissertation externally and does not hold a doctoral degree, provided that no more than four years have passed since the date the supervisor or supervisors, or the supervisor and assistant supervisor, were appointed in accordance with Article 217, or
- holds a doctoral degree obtained within the last seven years and is employed by an entity specified in Article 7(1) of the Act.
Employment, as referred to above, means employment based on an employment contract. Individuals holding a doctoral degree who are not employees of such an entity (e.g., those employed under a mandate or specific-task contract) are not eligible to apply for the scholarship.
Significant achievements in scientific activities of a young researchers are considered to include:
- Authorship or co-authorship of a scientific monograph or a chapter in a scientific monograph published by a publisher that, in the year the monograph was released in its final form, was included in the list of publishers prepared in accordance with regulations issued pursuant to Article 267(2)(2) of the Act (as per the Ministry of Education and Science list from July 22, 2021).
- Authorship or co-authorship of a scientific article published in a scientific journal or peer-reviewed proceedings of an international conference that, in the year the article was published in its final form, was included in the list of such journals and materials prepared in accordance with regulations issued pursuant to Article 267(2)(2) of the Act (as per the Ministry’s list from January 5, 2024).
- Leading a research project of high innovation, financed within the framework of a national or international competition.
- Practical application of research results or development work, including a granted national or international patent or implementation of research outcomes in another form.
- Completion of a foreign internship lasting at least three months at a highly prestigious institution.
- Receiving an international scholarship.
- Authorship, co-authorship, or creation of an artistic work that significantly contributes to the development of culture and art and has been presented at a review, festival, concert, or exhibition, or in cinema, stage, television circulation, or in a public space.
- Receiving an individual award or a significant contribution to an achievement that earned a team award in a competition, review, or festival of music, theater, film, fine arts, or architecture of high prestige and international reach, excluding awards received in competitions held as part of international scientific conferences or awards in the form of national or international scholarships.
