Young Researchers Forum and Debate on Barriers

IIYRT
On 30 June 2025, the second Young Researchers Forum – Debate on Barriers took place in the conference hall of the Hydromechanics building at Gdańsk University of Technology. The event was organized by the Young Researchers Office and the Young Researchers Team of Gdańsk Tech. It brought together early-career researchers, including PhD students, creating a space for honest and open dialogue about the needs and challenges faced at various stages of an academic career at our university.

The meeting was opened by PhD Eng. Roksana Licow, Chair of the Young Researchers Team, who presented the results of a survey conducted among young researchers at Gdańsk Tech. The results pointed to both existing barriers and areas that have improved compared to the previous survey in 2022.

The forum continued with a debate featuring members of the Young Researchers Team: PhD Eng. Damian Głowienka, PhD Eng. Agnieszka Lendzion, PhD Eng. Roksana Licow, and MSc. Eng. Architect Mariya-Veronika Mochulska. The discussion was moderated by Joanna Szakoła. The speakers' insights sparked an engaging and interactive exchange—participants eagerly shared their experiences, asked questions, and highlighted specific needs. After the official part, the conversations continued over coffee.

“The Young Researchers Office at Gdańsk Tech considers the voice of early-career researchers as a key element in shaping its strategy,” said PhD Eng. Agnieszka Lendzion.

In response to the needs raised, open consultation hours for young researchers will soon be introduced, providing opportunities for individual contact, consultations, and support. Furthermore, the solutions developed during the forum will be reflected in the HR4R Strategy of Gdańsk University of Technology for 2026–2028, aimed at creating a more supportive and friendly academic environment.
