PhD Open at Gdańsk Tech
PhD Open will begin at 10:00 AM in the Main Hall (Aula) of the Main Building of Gdańsk University of Technology. The event aims to formally open the academic year and to welcome newly admitted PhD students into the doctoral community.
This year’s edition will focus on the future of science, as well as on the skills and challenges faced by young researchers. The program combines the ceremonial welcome of new doctoral students with inspiring discussion panels and practical presentations.
The agenda includes, among others:
- the inaugural lecture “Navigating trouble waters in the quest for success in science” by Professor Dominik Antonowicz, Nicolaus Copernicus University,
- the discussion panel “The future of science: what skills will be essential for scientists in 2040”,
- the lecture “Why Ethics Matters: A personal perspective on research integrity” by PhD Ing. Mariya E. Ivanova from the Center of Excellence H2Start at Trakia University.
Additionally:
- during the coffee break at 11:00 AM, representatives of the Young Researchers Office will be available at their stand in front of the Aula – we warmly invite you to come and talk,
- at 3:15 PM, there will be a presentation: “Support that Makes Sense – What the Young Researchers Team and Office Offer” by PhD Agnieszka Lendzion, Head of the Young Researchers Office at Gdańsk Tech.
PhD Open is dedicated both to PhD students and to undergraduates interested in pursuing education at the Doctoral School.
Participation is free of charge; however, due to organizational reasons, prior online registration via the form is required.
For those who cannot attend in person, an online broadcast will be available.
The event is organized by the Doctoral Students’ Council of Gdańsk Tech in cooperation with the Doctoral School.
