On 3 March 2026, the inaugural meeting of the second call for applications to the “Universities of the Future” project took place. It was the first formal meeting of the participating students with the University Project Team, during which the next stages of the project and the forms of support available within the Personalised Education Model (MES) were presented.

A total of 12 projects from Gdańsk University of Technology were selected for the programme, including five team projects. They will be carried out by 19 participants representing the following faculties: Mechanical Engineering and Ship Technology, Electrical and Control Engineering, Electronics, Telecommunications and Informatics, and Applied Physics and Mathematics.

The students now face several key tasks, including:

  • developing an Individual Education Plan (IPE) together with their supervisor,
  • presenting and defending their project before the Business Team for Innovative Education (BZIK),
  • implementing the project, potentially up to the implementation stage.

Students may receive a scholarship of up to PLN 20,000 to develop their innovative projects. They will also benefit from project consultations as well as mentoring, academic and business support. During the meeting, particular emphasis was placed on the role of the Individual Education Plan, which allows students to adapt their study programme by, for example, replacing selected courses, completing personalised micro-courses and earning additional ECTS credits.

The event was opened by the Project Manager – Vice-Rector for Education, Prof. Mariusz Kaczmarek. During the meeting, students had the opportunity to meet their academic supervisors and members of the University Project Team. After the formal part, the Project Manager and the Academic Coordinator presented students with small gifts. Participants then had the opportunity to speak with their supervisors and discuss the first steps in implementing their projects. The meeting concluded with a group photo.

Academic supervision for the students at Gdańsk University of Technology will be provided by: Prof. Aleksandra Wiśniewska, Prof. Dominika Wróblewska, Dr Marita McPhillips, Dr Maciej Sienkiewicz and Prof. Roland Ryndzionek. The Academic Coordinator of the project is Dr Agnieszka Lendzion. Within the MES framework, students are also supported by Agnieszka Krysiak, MSc Eng. (MES Coordinator for Monitoring the Quality of Education) and Joanna Szakoła, (MES Coordinator for Dissemination). Organisational support is provided by Przemysław Rakowski, MSc and Beata Toma, MSc Eng. The system administrator of the platform used to report the progress of student projects (3DExperience) is Dr Anna Tomkiel.
