Research funding by the NCN without thematic restrictions

NCN
The National Science Centre Poland has announced the OPUS 31 call for research projects addressed to researchers at all career stages. The eligibility condition is at least one scientific publication, either published or accepted for publication.

The call offers funding opportunities for research projects conducted both in Poland and in collaboration with international research institutions. Funding is also available for projects carried out by Polish teams using large international research infrastructures. A key requirement is that the project must fall within the scope of basic research; however, no thematic restrictions are imposed, allowing researchers a high degree of freedom.

Projects may be planned for a duration of one to four years, and applicants are not subject to a predefined budget limit. Eligible costs may include, among others, salaries for the principal investigator and team members (including postdoctoral positions and scholarships), purchase of research equipment and software, materials and minor equipment, as well as costs of external services, business travel, study visits, and consultations. Additional remuneration for collective contributors and other expenses necessary for project implementation may also be included. Each budget item must be properly justified, as cost justification constitutes an important element of the expert evaluation.

The call for proposals in the OSF system is open from 16 March to 16 June 2026, until 2:00 p.m. The total budget allocated to the OPUS 31 call amounts to PLN 550 million.
